Bethany

So, if you are feeling robust. Have a look at this. Keep going if you can - it's worth it in the end.

Just made me think a bit. Ever felt like Bethany? Too far gone? Too hurt? Too exhausted? In too much of a mess?

Corrie Ten Boon once famously said "There is no pit so deep, that God's love is not deeper still." She knew what a pit was.

All things are recoverable from. Everything has a way back. God is involved in the serious business of recovery every second of every day. Often with the same people and the same recurring fault lines. Even for those who try so hard to be good that it leaves them all churned up inside sometimes. He is constant. He is an inveterate void filler. He is world champion broken people scooper-upper. The lost and the lonely are his people baby!  I suppose you have to be like Bethany and trust the healer enough to let him in and to give it over.

  1. Would you be referring to Ken Boon, the Michael Elphick Character [From "My Home Town]? If not, I've not a clue who Ten Boon is? Oh, what a dolt [to paraphrase another Elphickian character: Private Schultz] I've just noticed the "Corrie" preceding the Ten Boon and realised to what it might be referring and realising that I've never watched said Corrie and therefore won't have one wit of an idea of what you're referring to [always saying that it is said Northern Soap to which this refers and if I've even got that wrong, well.......] I can at least say that this is one long-winded way to say what a nice photo and sage message. Dolt indeed.

  2. David - Corrie Ten Boom was a lady who hid Dutch Jews during the war. They were an extraordinary family. Her aged father insisted in wearing a yellow star to identify with the Jews. They were sent to Ravensbrook for their troubles and she saw her sister and father die. He life after the war was taken up by preaching and teaching forgiveness. There was a book - The Hiding Place and a film - with Julie Harris I think. Lots more on Wiki. Consider yourself educated!! Good to have you back :)

  3. If we don't give up, God won't give up. If we give up, God won't give up. He didn't give up on me when I was at my lowest, even though it's hard for me to trust him.

  4. Thanks for putting that, I didn't know but I will certainly check it out now that you've enlightened me. I suppose it just goes to show how a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing doesn't it. Thank you for the welcome also. That's nice. See you soon.
